Windsor Castle’s historic East Terrace Garden has been transformed into the Venus Garden, inspired by the planet Venus and King Charles’ passion for natural patterns.

The garden’s design reflects the geometric floral pattern created by Venus’s orbit, known as the Pentagram or Rose of Venus, influencing the layout of perennial beds and hedge-lined pathways.

The garden, originally established in the 1820s and historically used as a bowling green and wartime allotment, has undergone an 18-month renovation to enhance biodiversity and seasonal interest.

New plantings include mixed perennials, roses, 11,000 spring bulbs, wildflower meadows, and avenues of pear trees, creating a sustainable and wildlife-friendly environment.

Visitors will also see bronze sculptures from the Royal Collection, topiary yew shrubs, and large-scale garden ornaments, enriching the garden’s artistic and historic appeal.

The Venus Garden will be open to the public from July 16 to September 13, included with standard Windsor Castle admission, offering rare views of the castle’s east facade.

A £1 ticket scheme is available for Universal Credit recipients and certain benefit claimants, allowing them and up to five household members to visit the garden and castle.
