Men’s Sheds Awards 2025: Blaenau Gwent’s Men’s Den Named Shed of the Year

The UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) rolled out the red carpet for the 2025 UK Men’s Sheds Awards, celebrating the unsung heroes bringing communities together across the nation.

Taking top honours, Men’s Den Blaenau Gwent scooped the coveted UK Shed of the Year 2025. Their groundbreaking intergenerational mini golf project, alongside inclusive activities like podcasting and a Ladies group, wowed the judges.

Kent’s Broadstairs Town Shed clinched the Health and Wellbeing Award, thanks to initiatives like “Wellbeing Mondays” and “Creative Fridays” that champion physical and mental health.

Over in Stockport, Reddish Men’s Shed earned the Community Project Award for their “Bike Giveaway” scheme, which refurbishes and donates bikes to local groups, promoting sustainability and affordable cycling.

Shrewsbury Men’s Shed won the Partnership Award for teaming up with the NHS Trust on the “Men Like Us” initiative, offering vital support and social prescribing for men battling illness.

Ripon Men’s Shed was recognised with the Armed Forces Award for a heartfelt D-Day anniversary project featuring a knitted Churchill Tank, raising funds for Help for Heroes.

Devon’s Braunton Men’s Shed took home the Heritage & Habitat Award for transforming railway carriages into workshops and spearheading environmental projects like tool restoration and building wildlife boxes.

The Shedder of the Year title went to Robert Taylor of Medway Men in Sheds, who showed remarkable leadership and resilience despite blindness and health challenges.

Special Recognition Awards saluted the Humber Shed Alliance for their collaborative work across Humberside, and the Octopus Shed Project for their tireless efforts in men’s health initiatives and partnerships with health organisations.

The event, backed by sponsors including Diageo, TiteFix, and the Royal British Legion, featured trophies crafted by Carveco — a fitting tribute to the positive impact Men’s Sheds have on community wellbeing and social inclusion.
